So, last week I participated in my guild’s annual Salon Competition. You see me post pictures once a month or so about prints I entered that won in my guild – this is a more formal version of that with official judging and RIBBONS! Yes, I get excited about ribbons. 🙂 I was really nervous because I had never entered anything into Salon before. It’s not just about what image is pretty or who photographed the cutest baby, there’s lots of specific criteria that they judge you on and mark off points. The goal is for your print to “merit” which means it scores an 80 out of 100. (it’s not like grade school….an 80 is a GOOD grade!)
I spent a small fortune on competition-ready prints and also entered my favorite wedding album. After the dust settled, my album and one of my prints merited! Thought I’d share it with you…sorry if you don’t find it as exciting as I do! 🙂 The next step would be to enter prints into the Florida-wide print competition in August….still trying to decide if I want to take that step.
Happy Thursday! Ryan and I will be photographing Girls and Boys State for the next two weeks, so I’ll share a couple fun images from there. We’re super busy, just not with the typical stuff so sorry if the blog is a little slow!
I love this picture of Kira…yes I realize it pops up everywhere! This scored an 80!
And here’s Rick and Stacey’s album that also merited with 82 points! (I had shared it on the blog before, just refreshing your memory!)
