Change is a Beautiful Thing!

Yesterday was a big day for me.  HUGE actually!  For the last 9 months I have been growing out my hair with the intention of chopping it all off to donate.  My hair has never been this long, but I’ve grown to really love it (except for the blowdry time)!  But I’m committed, so I headed over to Sarah “Stylist’s” place for the big appointment.

I am the type of person that gets really anxious if I have to anticipate something.  I made the appointment last week and since then I’ve been going back through old pictures and looking at all the different transitions my hair has gone through.  I realized it wasn’t just my hair, but my whole self!  Even my camera gear!  So I compiled a little “tour” of my evolving style! (or total lack of it, as you will see)

This one is probably the funniest, since it’s the oldest.  This was taken at Bert & Paul’s wedding on 6.4.05.  My gear of choice, Canon Rebel, over-priced flash bracket, the dreaded fanny pack, and an extra 15 pounds. 🙂

This is from Laura and Patrick’s wedding, 8.8.05.  It’s still probably one of my favorites to date, beautiful wedding at Deercreek Country Club!  I just get a kick out of this one because of my hair color…it’s so dark!

This was at Kim & Jimmy’s World Golf Village wedding on 11.19.05.  My friend from school, Sara Tress, was a bridesmaid!  This is probably the worst hair stage.  I was so envious of girls with pretty curls so I went with a perm…never again.  The pic on the right is of a drunken guest who dragged me out on the dance floor.  Never again on that one too!

Finally Sarah Stylist got ahold of me!  Took off some length, and the color is so much better!  This was at Erika & Dan’s Gainesville wedding on 8.12.06.  I finally added Gary Fong’s lightsphere to my arsenal and lost that horrendous fanny pack.

This is when I started my cable-knit sweater phase, I had one in every color!  This is from Amy & David’s wedding at the old Sea Turtle Inn, 9.9.06.

Before the creation of the fabulous Shootsac, I felt the need to carry around 2 camera bodies so I could switch lenses faster.  Ohh the havoc that wreaked on my back!  This is from Lyndsay & Randy’s wedding 5.5.07.  Lyndsay’s expecting a baby in January!

Can you tell this was a fun one?  Amber & Justin got married last year, 8.12.07.  My hair’s finally long enough for a ponytail!  I started growing it out for my own wedding…

The beautiful Shootsac finally makes its appearance!  Ryan bought me the super cute pink and brown polka dotted camera straps too.  Now I need a Shootsac cover to match!  You can tell I knew my couple well because I felt comfortable enough to wear a fun shirt! Haley & Corey were the best!  3.29.08

So finally, here’s a few pictures from my cut experience.  I’m still kind of in shock, as I look at my ponytail in a plastic baggy.  I’ll post some better ones later of what it looks like actually styled, but this is all I had time for right now.

Going, going…..

The BEST investment I made for our wedding day was definitely booking Kylene and Ryan Studios! It was such a blessing to have you both there to capture all of the PERFECT moments of that day. You all made us feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the lens and all around were pleasant to be around.

Kylene and Ryan are the worlds best photographers! Not only did I love every picture they took but they also were great to work with. I am not the greatest when it comes to taking pictures and knowing what I might like but they knew exactly what I wanted even when I didn’t. I would highly recommend them for every event.

Ellen

They were the absolute best! So friendly, so fun and professional. The photos were amazing and they took the time to get some of the more ridiculous shots I requested. BONUS: they were amazing with our nephew. He is autistic. He was our ring-bearer and was having a difficult day, which isn’t unexpected for a day like that. Could not recommend enough.

Nora

Hands down, I would recommend Kylene & Ryan to anyone in a heartbeat. We used them for our engagement photos, a boudoir shoot for me, and our wedding photography. Every single time we saw their work, we were blown away. What first drew us to them was their beautiful work–but what also hooked us was how incredibly fun, sweet, professional, and hard-working they are.

Wow, what an incredible experience! It was such a joy working with this team. They had us laughing and enjoying every minute of our special day. And the pictures are STUNNING! They really went above and beyond to create unique and memorable moments we will cherish always.
