Sara & Brett have maybe the coolest love story I have ever heard…they unofficially “met” before Brett was even born (his mom was still carrying him), when their parents met at Sara’s mother’s shop in a Tallahassee mall. Fast forward through high school where they went to the same school but ran in different circles, fast forward through another decade or so when a job brought Sara to Raleigh, NC, and after looking on Facebook to see if she knew anyone who lived there, she comes across Brett. For what may have seen like the millionth time, but it was finally the right time. Sara’s dad gave a heartfelt toast during the reception highlighting this meeting, and how Brett took it upon himself to show Sara all of the wonderful spots to visit in Raleigh. He wanted her to move there, and wanted to see where things would go. Things went somewhere awesome, and they came back to where it all started to tie the knot – in good ol’ Tallahassee. I also adore that they chose to get married on Brett’s parents’ 57th wedding anniversary. They had a surprise cake and guestbook for them so everyone could help celebrate, and also used the same cake cutting utensils from 57 years ago.
Ryan and I first had a long phone call with Sara and Brett when we were on a trip to Oregon. I remember curling up on the hotel bed with my laptop and giving them a ring, and they were so sweet about us calling while out of town. We had an awesome chat, and we soon put them on the calendar for a year and a half later!! They made us wait forever….
But it was worth the wait, and our buddy Amy Smith with Papaya Wedding Planning helped coordinate and design the most beautiful day for this beautiful couple. We are so thankful to have been a small piece to the puzzle, and witness such a joyous occasion! Enjoy this big sneak peek you guys, lots more coming soon!
