How lucky are we to go to Asheville to photograph a wedding?! It’s a long story….but Toni, mother of the bride, was Rylie’s daycare provider when she was a baby. Ryan remembers little Ashley running around too, and now she’s all grown up and getting married!! These two lovebirds actually started their journey last year with an elopement to the courthouse, and then we got to photograph them around FSU’s campus afterwards. They decided they wanted to do the full shebang and celebrate with their families, so they chose a beautiful city and venue, and got to work. We took our time making the trip up there and stopped in Helen, GA on the way for a great 2 night getaway! Thankfully Ryan checked the forecast and there was a rain possibility, but the day of the wedding I didn’t even think about it and it was warm and sunny. Then when it came time to head down the aisle, thunder started up. Ashley never faltered, not even for a second. Everyone lined up, walked down the aisle, and they started their ceremony. We were already in this quiet, private area of the property shaded by trees, and then when the clouds and thunder came in it felt even more quiet – it was actually a really cool setting. Again, Ryan being so smart, he had packed our 2 clear umbrellas and brought them to the ceremony spot. As soon as the rain started falling he ran them up there, and the MOH and BM held them over Ashley and Jake so they could say their vows. It got a lot more wet after that, but they kissed and recessed back up the aisle like it was no big deal. Everyone handled the rain in stride, especially the bridesmaids. Not gonna lie….I can be kind of prissy about my hair, and I would have been pretty bummed about getting soaked. But they ran upstairs to blow dry their hair, and we got to do all of their bridal party pics like it was no big deal. The theme of the day was to have fun and roll with it – it was awesome to witness!
Ashley and Jake, you are surrounded by a wonderful group of friends and family who obviously love you very much! Thanks for having us to capture such a special day. Congrats!
