“Things I Love” Thursday | The City of Chicago

Well, I think it’s safe to say I brought the cold weather back with me from Chicago!  It’s almost like we’re still there, it’s so cold in Tallahassee right now and much of Florida!  Rumors of snow?  Wow…

The only thing on my mind this week was how fabulous our weekend trip was to Chicago to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary.  We had such a great time and I think we got a taste of what Chicago has to offer.  I was amazed at how friendly everyone was that we came in contact with.  Even the waitress at the hard core hamburger joint with the loud rock music!  (more on that later)

Here’s some of my favorites pics from our trip.  Thanks for indulging me in this personal post!

The decor in our room was amazing!  All I could think of was, “I wish I could do a boudoir shoot here right NOW!”  🙂  We stayed at The Wit which is a Doubletree Hotel and they had it going on for sure.  The restaurant downstairs had the most amazing breakfast…I’ve been dreaming of it since we left.  They had this caramel apple in our room and then left champagne and chocolate covered strawberries later with a note for our anniversary.  We were spoiled…

Our hotel was literally right next door to the Chicago Theater which made for a cool setting.  We missed Mariah Carey by a few days and Norah Jones by a few weeks.  Maybe next time.

Our first adventure was a cab ride to Kuma’s Corner, a burger joint we’d seen on our favorite Food Network show, “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives”.  After seeing the episode a few weeks before our trip, I knew we’d have to find it so I could get this burger!  It’s got bourbon soaked poached pears, brie cheese, caramelized onions and pancetta on it.  Oh my gosh….do I look happy or what?

The next day we walked to Millenium Park and acted like total tourists.  I’m telling you, The Bean just demands you to act like a dork and take silly pictures.  You have to surrender your dignity and just go for it!  So with that said, here’s Ryan and me being silly:

Here’s my favorite of Ryan, wish I had one like this of both of us:

Yes, we just went THERE:

I promise we didn’t do this on purpose, but after looking more closely at our pictures we realized Ryan’s snowball made a heart shape.  That’s skill man….

Here’s me setting up our “Point & Shoot” on my pink Gorillapod so we can have a decent picture of both of us in front of The Bean.  We don’t trust other people, so we just do it ourselves.  But my pro camera is too heavy for the Gorillapod, so we walk around with both and swap when needed.  Yes, we’re dorks.

And here’s the resulting shot (the only one in the post taken with our Point & Shoot, can’t you tell the difference?)

We went to Gino’s East for pizza and then found an awesome bar to watch the Super Bowl at.  We made friends fast and the owner of the bar was from a small city in Florida (Leesburg) and when we told him we knew where that was, he bought us a shot of tequila and announced our anniversary over the loudspeaker.  🙂  I also met a girl who went to my rival high school in Jacksonville and then graduated college from FSU in Tallahassee. Smalllll world I tell you!

Thanks Chicago!  Hope to see you again real soon!

The BEST investment I made for our wedding day was definitely booking Kylene and Ryan Studios! It was such a blessing to have you both there to capture all of the PERFECT moments of that day. You all made us feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the lens and all around were pleasant to be around.

Kylene and Ryan are the worlds best photographers! Not only did I love every picture they took but they also were great to work with. I am not the greatest when it comes to taking pictures and knowing what I might like but they knew exactly what I wanted even when I didn’t. I would highly recommend them for every event.

They were the absolute best! So friendly, so fun and professional. The photos were amazing and they took the time to get some of the more ridiculous shots I requested. BONUS: they were amazing with our nephew. He is autistic. He was our ring-bearer and was having a difficult day, which isn’t unexpected for a day like that. Could not recommend enough.

Hands down, I would recommend Kylene & Ryan to anyone in a heartbeat. We used them for our engagement photos, a boudoir shoot for me, and our wedding photography. Every single time we saw their work, we were blown away. What first drew us to them was their beautiful work–but what also hooked us was how incredibly fun, sweet, professional, and hard-working they are.

Wow, what an incredible experience! It was such a joy working with this team. They had us laughing and enjoying every minute of our special day. And the pictures are STUNNING! They really went above and beyond to create unique and memorable moments we will cherish always.
