I told you yesterday that there was another good cause I wanted to tell you about. My mom told me about a segment she saw on the news last week in Jacksonville, about a wedding photographer who had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma. When she told me her name my heart sank…I had met Naomi Williams about 5 years ago doing some work for Bob Knight Photo. We didn’t really keep in touch, but her work always graced the pages of magazines and I could never forget her outgoing personality and passion for photography. Naomi is now fighting for her life with her husband Nik, and two and a half year old son Jake by her side. When someone you know is struck by a tragedy like this, you feel bewildered and have no idea how to help. But I want to try to do something, even if it’s small, to make a difference in Naomi’s treatment and life.
They’re holding a benefit for her on June 13 from 7-10pm in Jacksonville. I am unable to go since I will be out of town, but I’d like to purchase the tickets for someone that will use them and go in my place. Please leave a comment if you are interested in using these tickets, and I will get in touch with you.
They’re also looking for donated items to be used in a silent raffle, so please leave that information on the “Picture a Cure Event” section of her site if you have something to contribute.
Please visit Naomi’s site and leave some words of encouragement for her in this tough time: www.fornaomi.com
They just added a video at the top with the news piece. It brought me to tears to see her with her little boy and to know what she’s going through.
