Man….where to start with this one? Brittney and Matthew came to us kind of late in the game, and with good reason. They had been planning their wedding for almost a year, but then when her dad needed heart surgery, they moved up their date by a few months and also moved it to his backyard in Dothan, AL. Brittney and Matthew live in Virginia, but we shared a few emails, phone calls, and within two weeks we were ready to meet them.
In light of the crazy year that is 2020 and Brittney’s dad’s health concerns, they told us their entire wedding would be masked. It was definitely a different experience to be behind the lens and a mask, but we quickly got used to it. I smiled a LOT more behind that mask so her bridal party knew I was happy to be there! I’m so glad they were able to safely get married, knowing their dad could rest easy and recover from surgery soon. We’ll be rooting for you Mr. Rutledge!
This day had so many lovely surprises including a secret dress-change from Brittney and a jaunt down the aisle from both of them….but the biggest surprise was from Matthew in the form of an amazing guest to sing their first dance song! We got to witness the beauty that is MAJOR. and hear him serenade them with “Stand By Me”, and then his original song “Why I Love You”. It was absolutely amazing….you wish you were there. 😉
They had some lovely vendors who helped pull everything together for the new date, and we loved working a little bit outside of town and meeting new people!
